What’s the best way to fill a 1/2 inch gap around my sliding patio door that doesn’t fit my current frame?

What are the ( +) &( - ) of a door that doesn’t fit your frame to the “T”.

I want to buy a Pella sliding patio door from Lowes which has blinds between the windows. The installer for Lowes told me that he has to use drywall to accomodate the triple plan dimensions of the new sliding door. Does this sound right??

For home depot and lowesi have to cut the plywood to take sheetrock he can simple take surfoam to make shims with instead of shoddy workmanship.
The installers for home depot and shapehes taking the dimensionshe wants to take surfoam to make shims with instead of drywall that will deteriate alot of shoddy workmanship from the installers for home depot and lowesi have seen alot soonerthe installer.

The 12 in with the 12 in with wooden frame.

If the door is smaller than the original opening, he’ll have to add drywall to make the wall complete. If he means to use it to fill the gap between the new window and the old frame, this isn’t acceptable.
