turkeys banging on patio doors?

Posted by admin
Laurie asked:

We have wild turkeys in our wooded yard. They tend to come to the patio doors and bang furiously on our patio doors. I presume they see their reflection. I noticed this morning they/he/it has banged so hard there is blood on the glass. Is there some way I can prevent them from doing this? I feel bad for these injured birds. :-(

The animal kingdom try painting your patio doors so they dont see their reflections other than that you.

I’ve noticed that some buildings have silhouettes of hawks, or other predators (made of black paper) pasted on their windows to prevent birds from flying into windows. Maybe you could figure out what predators turkeys are afraid of and try something similar.

Or buy one of those ceramic life-like statue of a dog (or get a real dog or cat) to sit on your patio.

You could put a wire fence to keep them away or tape some silver streamers to your doors.

Put some cracked corn on the ground away from the doors to take away their interest
